Principles with regards to the actions of the Prophet (salalla alahi wasalam)

The foundation (Usool) in relation to the actions of the Prophet (salalla alahi wasalam) is that they are a legislation for all the Muslims and it is not specific for him until a dalil (evidence) is established which shows clearly that it is indeed specific for him. It cannot be an evidence that could have probability of being specific for him because of the saying of Allah;“Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for Allah and the last day, and remembers Allah much”. (Surah Ahzab Ayah 21)

Ibn Qayyim said in Zaadul Maad, pg 307; “The foundation (usl) is that all the Islamic rulings apply to the Ummah (muslim nation) except if there is a evidence that specifies that ruling”.

Ibn Hazam said in Ahkam volume 1 pg 469; “It is not permissible to for anybody to say in anything that any actions are specific for the Prophet (salalla alahi wasalam) except with a text (from the Quran or the Sunnah)”.

And I say “It is not a condition that the dalil is clear, it is something that can be deduced”.
