Our private sitting with Sheikh Fawzaan: Part 2

On the 7th april 2010 I and a group of around ten brothers from different parts of the UK met with Sheikh Fawzaan in his office right after Salatul Thur, which we prayed behind him.

Questioner: Our honoured father, I have a query in regards to the issue of al-Wala wal-Bara many New Muslims in Britain have relatives and parents who are non-muslims so are they to remain loving them or are they not to love them but still interact with them?

Sheikh fawzaan: It is as you said towards the end he does not love them, however he does good them and he is to interact with them Allaah says:

And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years give thanks to Me and to your parents, unto Me is the final destination. (Luqman 31:14

Be amicable to them, spend on themand call them to Islam. As for them remaining on Kufr, you are to free yourself from their Deen. However treat them with kindness and goodness as this is their right upon you and this is your worldly interaction.
